fooding

fooding n. a restauranting trend which emphasizes food as a style choice, usually via new or fusion cuisines in combination with factors not related to food, such as a unique or trendy atmosphere. Editorial Note: In French, fooding takes the masculine article: le fooding. Etymological Note: The term is usually said to be a combination of English food and feeling. According to French newspaper articles and the site Le Fooding, run by Alexandre Cammas, the term was coined by Cammas January 1999 at the offices of the French magazine Nova.
