pit maneuver
n.— «When the driver of the car refused to pull over on SR-434 and Ronald Reagan Boulevard in Longwood, a Seminole County deputy decided to move in with the precision immobilization technique called a pit maneuver. “It’s not a maneuver where you crash into it. You simply make very light contact and then a quarter turn of the vehicle will cause it to spin out, go into reverse and stall,” said Lt. Don Rufo of the Seminole County Sheriff’s Office.» —“Disturbance At Pub Sparks Chase In Longwood” in Longwood WFTV-TV (Orlando, Florida) Oct. 31, 2006. (source: Double-Tongued Dictionary)
