gapology

gapology n. the study or discussion of marked differences between groups, viewpoints, or situations. Also, gapologist, a person who studies such differences. Etymological Note: Gap ‘a conspicuous disparity or difference (between two things)’ + -ology ‘study of’ (source: Double-Tongued Dictionary)
