“Floordrobe” is What You Call it When Clothes are Scattered on the Floor

Floordrobe is the new word for an old habit: piling your clothes on the floor instead of putting them away. The Oxford English Dictionary recently added an entry for it, defining floordrobe as “an untidy heap of discarded clothing left on the floor of a room instead of stored in a wardrobe.” It’s been around since at least 1995. This is part of a complete episode.

Grant, I was pleased to see that the editors at the Oxford English Dictionary just made a new entry for the word floor drobe.

Floor drobe.

This is instead of putting your clothes where they belong in the closet or the wardrobe or the drawers, you pile them on the floor.

That’s right.

The dictionary defines it as an untidy heap of discarded clothing left on the floor of a room instead of stored in a wardrobe.

Yeah, yeah.

I think their definition doesn’t really do the chaos justice, but okay.

Dictionary people, a little straight laced.

I’m glad to have a word for it.

Apparently, it’s been around since at least 1995.

How about that?

Not that I have a floor robe or anything.

-huh.

No, really.

No really.

Sure.
