You’re listening to A Way with Words, the show about language and how we use it.

I’m Grant Barrett.

And I’m Martha Barnette.

Grant, we’ve been getting a lot of email from listeners lately that contains a lot of words that I didn’t know.

Yeah?

And I’ve grouped some of them together, and I want to see if you can guess what group of words they belong.

Here are the words.

Three words.

Ambassador.

Schnug.

Got any ideas yet?

How they’re related?

Yeah.

Ambassador. Snug. And Dalmadoodle.

Oh, these are all dog breeds. Yes.

Oh, okay. Snug is a schnauzer and a pug.

Bassador is a basset hound and a labrador. Yep.

And then what’s the last one? Dalmadoodle. Dalmatian and a poodle.

Exactly. Dalmadoodle.

Okay. Not to be confused with a great Danoodle.

Great Danoodle. Which is a really big dog.
