Transcript of “Cray”

There’s something called the frequency illusion.

Remember this?

Oh, yeah.

This is when you encounter a word, and then you become kind of obsessed with it and feel like you see it everywhere.

Well, that word for me these days is cray, C-R-A-Y.

Cray.

Cray.

It means crazy.

Oh, really?

And it’s been around for quite a while as a slang word, and a lot of times people say cray-cray.

You so cray-cray.

Oh, really?

And a lot of times it’s done in hip-hop and black films and shows featuring black actors.

It’s got an African-American commode to it.

But the word has become so kind of various that it now has morphed into cray-ness.

Cray-ness.

Yeah, his cray-ness was just outstanding.

So if you did all this wacky stuff on set, you might say it about an actor, right?

Meaning craziness.

I love it.

So cray means crazy.

Cray-cray is very crazy.

And your cray-ness is your craziness.

Now I’m going to see it everywhere still, right?

Now I have a word for it.

Thank you.

You so cray, Martha.
