Grant, here’s another snippet from a letter sent to the person writing the blog Slushpile Hell.
They write to the agent, “I received your rejection notice and I want to let you know that even if you would have offered representation, I would have turned it down. You obviously have no taste in literature and are a hack. I look forward to your failure as the publishing industry goes down in flames.”
And the agent writes back, “Okay, Mom, sorry you feel that way. See you at Thanksgiving.”
