Transcript of “El Conejo Gritando”

We heard from Eloise Stripling in San Antonio, Texas, who has taught at the Defense Language Institute English Language Center at Lackland Air Force Base.

And she said one of her favorite parts about that job has been hearing different idioms from people from around the world who come there to study.

And she said that one of her favorites is one that’s sort of equivalent to, in English, we talk about the pot calling the kettle black.

But she learned from one of her Spanish-speaking students the expression, el conejo gritando orejon, which means the rabbit hollering big ears.

Isn’t that great? I just picture this rabbit just yelling, big ears.

You’ve got big ears.

El conejo gritando orejon. I love it.
