Here’s another word from our word wall, ginnel, G-I-N-N-E-L.

Ginnel, I had to look that one up.

I had no idea.

I did too.

It’s a long, narrow passage between houses, either roofed or unroofed.

You see that in Manchester, Leeds, and other parts of Yorkshire.

Sounds kind of like a breezeway.

Yeah, sort of.

But a ginnel.

Good.

I have no idea about the etymology.

Well, there’s tons more room on the word wall.
