Jean in Trucksville, Pennsylvania, says her family hasn’t named a household appliance, exactly, although they did christen their compost bin Darth Vader. This is part of a complete episode.
Transcript of “The Smell is Strong in This One”
Following up on our conversation with Amanda in Evansville, Indiana, who was asking do other people name their household appliances because her family always referred to their garbage disposal as.
George, we did hear from Gene Gruby in Trucksville, Pennsylvania, who says we named the family compost been Darth Vader.
The composter is black and plastic.
And looms outdoors near the garden.
We say, take this bucket of food scraps to Darth.
I am your compost.
I’m just imagining, though,
this writhing, disgusting,
you know, rotten food and flies
and worms, and then later
it turns to vegetables
and something wonderful to eat.
It’s magical, right? It’s got the force
I’m going to put it behind it.
Midichlorian’s in there somewhere.
