I was walking through beautiful Balboa Park here in San Diego the other day, and I saw a bench that had a proverb on it, on a little plaque, and I just loved it and wanted to share it.
It goes, the best time to plant a tree was 20 years ago. The next best time is now.
Oh, that’s nice. Yeah.
Yeah, so much wisdom distilled in a little proverb like that.
Yeah, I’ve heard stories about there are folktales told about that, about the man who is planting all these trees that will take 100 years to mature, and they’re like, well, why are you planting these?
He’s like, so that someone else may enjoy them.
Right, right.
He’ll never enjoy their shade.
Right.
