rent-a-rock

rent-a-rock
n.— «Officer Christian Hicks says right now there’s no evidence of a carjacking, but there is evidence Shelley’s so-called friend turned the SUV into what’s called a rent-a-rock. That’s where someone loans someone else a vehicle in exchange for drugs. Hicks says it’s a common occurance on the streets. Police say rather than admitting they traded their vehicles for drugs, most people lie and say it was stolen or in John Shelley’s friend’s case, carjacked.» —“Alleged victim of vehicle theft arrested by police” by Chris Redford KTBS-TV (Shreveport, Louisiana) Apr. 3, 2007.
