pian-a-thon

pian-a-thon
n.Gloss: a marathon session of piano-playing, usually as a celebration or fund-raiser. «Enthused by the Department of Music’s recent purchase of 32 Steinway pianos and its designation as an all-Steinway school, they’ll perform for 32 hours straight, beginning Friday at 1 p.m.—one hour per instrument. Spawned by an idea from music department Chairman Jeff Reynolds and several students, the “pian-a-thon,” as they call it, will take place at the University of Alabama at Birmingham’s Hulsey Recital Hall.» —“Pian-a-thon” by Michael Huebner Birmingham News (Alabama) Oct. 4, 2007.
