Following up on our conversation about grandparent terms, we heard from John Polk, who tweets at Cliches Gone Wild, and he said that among the grandparent names in his family are -huh, named by oldest nephew on wife’s side because my father-in-law would quote the Ray Charles Pepsi commercial, You Got the Right One Baby, -huh.
And the other one was Hoo-Hoo, named by oldest nephew on my side, because my mom would say Hoo-Hoo to let him know she was coming when he woke up from a nap.
Those are both very good. -huh and Hoo-Hoo.
Yeah, those are sort of organic grandparent names, right? Rather than one passed on historically from other people you know.
Right. I’d answer to -huh or Hoo-Hoo.
