Obamacare for Word of the Year

Grant talks about another “Word of the Year” contender, Obamacare. This is part of a complete episode.

Transcript of “Obamacare for Word of the Year”

Martha, I’m still thinking about words of the year.

Obamacare.

Obamacare.

This is the health insurance dealio that was passed at the behest of the Obama administration. They first started using it in 2009. The term just exploded in life in 2010. And here we are with the term Obamacare.

It’s generally derogatory, which I think is kind of obvious.

Right.

It’s so odd because if you think about the word itself, it sounds positive. But it’s been used in a really negative kind of way.

If you’ve got a Word of the Year candidate, send it along to words@waywordradio.org or call with your Word of the Year nominations, 1-877-929-9673.
