You remember our conversation a couple of weeks ago about the expression little pitchers have big ears?
Yeah, don’t say stuff around kids if you don’t want it repeated.
Right, that prompted an email from Cheryl Taylor in Chicago who wrote, my friends and I would simply say corn when we thought someone was listening in on our conversation.
Big ears of corn.
Yep, yep.
She said the first time my friend said it, it took a minute for it to sink in.
That’s funny.
Big ears of corn.
Right.
Corn.
Yeah.
We also heard from Celeste Lux, who lives in Nebraska, and she said that her understanding of it was little pishers, you know, like the Yiddishism.
Oh, little pishers.
