God box
n.— «Without having to maintain and monitor several often disparate systems, IT managers are choosing what Ranum refers to as the “God Box”—a single appliance that will do it all.» —“Enterprise Firewalls” by Sandra Kay Miller Processor Apr. 7, 2006. (source: Double-Tongued Dictionary)
‘God box’ is what, for at least the last 30 years in live TV field productions, the ‘IFB’ (interrupted fold back) device is called….that’s the magic thingy that allows producers and directors to talk into the ears of the on-air ‘talent’ (or ‘alledged talent’) while they are on-camera.
