Is there a word for words derived from the language of the colonized? (for example "pundit" or or maybe "succotash") as opposed to another word for those taken from the colonizers? ("expert" or maybe "baton")

Nothing so specific, as far as I know. "Foreignism" comes the closest, though it doesn't capture the colonial aspect.

Good question, Frances. You know, I think there might be, but darned if I can remember it. I think I had a conversation with a friend years ago about something along those lines, and I've just emailed her to ask, so if I find out anything, I'll be sure to post it here. I'm thinking it was a somewhat general term that could also be applied to economies mixing in the same way. I hope we get you an answer!
