Save me from lawyers

Got this in an email from my company's lawyers today.
*You may not engage in any activity that could be considered premature coordination or integration (also known as "gun jumping")*.
We are acquiring another company and they don't want us to talk about it. Seems like a reasonable request but ...
I understand jumping the gun but what the heck is "gun jumping"???
Jack

The same thing, essentially, but it appears to be a bit of jargon popular in the investment and M&A (mergers and acquisitions) world. Here it is in an SEC commissioner speech from 1970.
(And it may go back to the 1930's, at least.)
Gracious! I've never heard it, ElderJack. Thanks for the heads-up! (Or would that be "heads-upping"?)

. . . or Up-heading?
How about bean-spilling? Cat-debagging?
