Petina Gappah was interviewed about her new novel "The Book of Memory" on 1 March on NPR. If you read the story, look for the section "Zimglish" and read about how "Nicodemus" can be used as an adjective. It is at about 4:25 on the audio.

Thanks for providing the link. I wish there had been time in the interview for her to give more examples of what she considers to be Zimglish. I would happily listen to her beautiful voice for much longer.

So happy to find a topic on English dialects.

Recently I have been trying to find out whether or not New Zealand and Australian English are considered to be dialects of English. What is their linguistic status at present?

We can find a number of dialects within New Zealand and Australian English. This muddles the issue. Can there be a dialect within a dialect?
