Now here's a workout for your brain! Try to guess the five-letter word. If your guess starts too far down in the alphabet, the graphic lets you know. If it's too far up, it lets you know that, too. Trying to zero in on the right word is downright addictive -- not to mention maddening!

Let us know how you do!

Y'know, I hate to give away a big secret but, ahem, they repeat the words. Apparently they have a set word list and people have caught on and are keeping lists of words that appear and simply typing them out at random (and acing the thing with little effort)! Sorry to burst people's bubbles but it's not really a challenge. I figured it out within less than an hour of playing and I was sorely disappointed that they didn't just have a computer pick words from a nearly infinite list of 5-letter words. I hope they fix it, 'cause as it is, anyone can rack up points once they suss the wordlist out.

Owell. I didn't get far enough to have my bubble burst. 🙁 Thanks for the info!

Don't mention it.

However, the concept is fresh. If they took from a larger corpus of 5-letter words, that would be more fun. I don't see why they couldn't do that at WS… I like challenges that are well written/programmed.

I don't have enough time to sit around and collect lists of these words, so I still think this game is really fun! On my first try I got the word in 13 guesses, but after that I think I went downhill. My total for 5 games was 1884. I think I've found my new addiction!
I've gotten my dad and brother addicted as well.
Yay for word nerds!!
