In conjunction with the writing and writers' blog The Golden Pencil, we're looking for a new tag line for A Way with Words. "Public radio's lively language show" seems so insubstantial and plain.
What words sum up the best qualities of the show? Is there a pithy way of describing the show so that it's easy to grasp what it's about? What's catchy and doesn't grow old fast?
We're open to new ideas and all entries are welcomed!
If yours is chosen to be the new tag line for A Way with Words, we'll give you thanks on the web site and in the email list.

"Public radio's uniquely indescribable show"
"The weekly pop quiz you look forward to"
"Help for when the words elude you"
"A weekly dose of why we say what we say"
"... with the approachable and usually irreproachable hosts Martha Barnette and Grant Barrett." Possibly add "You decide which is which." A weekly word juxtaposition could be posed to keep people tuning in, if for no other reason.
LOL, Geoff!
And Jonnie, I like "why we say what we say" (although sometimes we talk about why you "should" say this or that, so that's only part of the story, don't you think?)
And I don't know --
>>“Public radio's uniquely indescribable show”<< is just generously vague enough to remind me of Geoff's comment (like telling parents that their children were "as good as they could be"). 🙂
A few of my own:
A Way with Words: Assumptions are for sump pumps
A Way with Words: Paging Through The Dictionary, please pick up the white phone
A Way with Words: The nerds strike back
A Way with Words: One isotope away from radioactive
A Way with Words: A pen in the hand is always in search of the bush
A Way with Words: Grading on a curve
A Way with Words: Better than burnt toast and beer
A Way with Words: Something's on the air
A Way with Words: To grammar's house we go
A Way with Words: Loaded for forbearance
(kidding! mostly)

How's about ‘A Way with Words - it simply doesn't get better!‘.
This would apply if the show was really great (which it is) or if it was rubbish and wasn't improving, no matter how hard the team tried!
Not a serious attempt - just wanted to raise a smile!
And to think, my dad claimed the brits had no humor!

lol, why do I think Grant picked the original tag line... of course, I don't have a single idea to contribute to this.

i tried to go to http://www.thegoldenpencil.com/ , as instructed, but the page won't load.
i'd like to suggest something concise and descriptive:
A WAY WITH WORDS
word talk radio
“A Way with Words—A show for those who love language too much to yell: Away with Words!”
“A Way with Words—Because, frankly, My Word sometimes just doesn't cut it…”
“A Way with Words—A way to deal with the words we live with” (or, with which we live)
“A Way with Words—Everyone's got one”
“A Way with Words—What's yours?”
(corny, maybe, I'm just brainstorming… But I agree that the tagline should “go” with the phrase “A way with words”.)
A Way With Words - every word has a history
A Way With Words - every word has a story to tell
A Way With Words - you best trip to wordland
A Way With Words - everything is made of words
A Way With Words - there are words everywhere, come to visit them
A Way With Words - tells from wordland
A Way With Words - the never ending quest for words
A Way With Words - the quest for worlds behind words
A Way With Words - every word is a world
