I always wondered how the word "tight" came to mean someone had drunk too much alcohol. Any suggestions? Please reply to my e-mail, as I don't check blogs and lists.

Dear Nancy,

Saying "Please reply to my e-mail, as I don’t check blogs and lists" on a discussion forum is like approaching someone at a cocktail party, saying hello, handing them your business card, and telling them to reply by fax.
