Spooky Doodles

I just ran into an expression that has me baffled. I'm assuming (or at least hoping) that this is slang of some sort.

It showed up in a CNN.com article which contained the paragraph:

Some think differently. They believe Masters, now 36, was convicted via faulty logic, pop psychology, underhanded investigative tactics and a collection of spooky doodles. They say Masters deserves a new trial.

SPOOKY DOODLES???

HHHEEEEELLLPPPP!!!!

It's not a special slang term. They're just doodles. Real doodles: scribbles on a page. Read more about them here.

That's what I had kinda figured.

Most of the hits I got while goodle-digging had to do with scrap-booking; such as this, this, and this.

But then, I found this in an online book review forum:

I liked him in this one, but when he was introduced, he gave me the creeps. He just shows up, out of thin air! I think he's some kind of spooky-doodle! He likes to mess with Steph's mind!

Clearly this is not something widespread, but could it be a jargon term that is beginning to show up as slang?

LOL, Paradox! Creepy article, but I Love the idea of there being spooky-doodles. Sounds like that should be some kind of pumpkin-and-chocolate-flavored breakfast cereal -- or with little candy-corn marshmallows or something.

And I just had a GFM (Gnarly Foot Moment) staring at the word "marshmallow" way too long, wondering if I'd misspelled it!

I think my blood sugar must be dipping....

Here's another one:

Sunny

I really think there's something to this.

[[Caution: this page would be considered offensive to just about anybody with an intact nervous system and the slightest shred of decency.]] This one is a bit more literal:

Nothing says "I am a 21st century nutter with DSL" than a spooky doodle with horns.

Paradox, I edited your comment to put your warning before the link.

Call me obsessive, but:

Talk to ya later! Ooooh...I still have leftover Chinese. Wonder if it's garlicy-ness will match yours - lol. Alright, spooky doodle. Talk to you later!

It seems like it's the sound of the phrase that is catching on, rather than the real meaning (whatever it may be…). Does anyone else notice this? Or am I just insegreviously imagining things?

Martha's right about the cereal idea! Although, I don't know if it'd be that nutritious (if at all).

The phrase just has some kind of catchiness to it.

Then again, what is someone not going to post at myspace?
