Rwanda's shift from French to English likely to affect region. Last week, Rwanda officially dropped French and adopted English as the official language of communication and teaching. The country's nursery schoolchildren will no longer sing Il y a Sept Jours à Semaine; they will sing There Are Seven Days in a Week and London Bridge is Falling Down.

The French language is experiencing a steep decline all over the globe. French is a native language to very few Africans and must compete with many other lingua francas in North and West Africa such as English, Lingala, Hausa, Arabic, to name just a few. If you want to learn more about the worldwide decline of French, I invite you to visit my blog The Worldwide Decline Of French. Your comments are welcome.
