(For those unfamiliar, to deacon produce is to put the blems underneath and the flawless fruit/vegetables on top. To deacon a calf is to whop a male dairy calf on the head upon birth, killing it because raising vealers is not sufficiently profitable. Sometimes those calves are auctioned at 1-3 days of age, but you can't afford to drive far and spend an entire day at the auctions for just one deacon calf.  It's no wonder people named deacon lead disreputable career paths.  They tend to be snollygosters.)
