Was listening to the show and heard this caller calling about something that forever changed her reality. Related being 16 and seeing their brother born and how it blew her mind.

This immediately made me thing of this:

N. Archaic
A swift, spiritual kick to the head that alters your reality forever.

Pop. mention, Film: Grosse Pointe Blank

Cheers

Hiya Moshen, and welcome to the forum!

I hadn't heard "shokabuku" as a name for that experience. New word for me. Classically, the name for that experience is "epiphany" but there's a lot of other words/expressions that have surfaced over the years, probably because so many people have had it. "Revelation" and "inspiration" immediately come to mind.

Closely related to that, and usually preceding it, there's what's called cognitive dissonance ... a conflict between what you had believed and what you must now believe. I'm no psychologist, but it seems logical to me that shokabuku would require some cognitive dissonance.
