Is there a word for the hard slush buildup in the wheel well of the car in winter? I've always called them "chunkers". Is there another name for it?

I heard a contest for new words on "All Things Considered" several years ago, and one of the words suggested for this substance was snard. I always thought that that was an excellent word for it. It was a suggested word, not one in any dictionary, and has not caught on, but it should!!
