In my family, we've always said annie (perhaps ante? We're from east Texas, so we don't pronounce the t) gaudlin (rhymes with maudlin) right and left to signify alternate right and left when playing cards (specifically hearts). We've gotten it from my grandfather, who grew up in east Texas in the 1920's and 1930's. He says it was in common usage at the time. Can anyone give me more information about it?
