Great question. Welcome.

I use the one-word version, uncapitalized unless capitalization is required for other reasons.

Compact Oxford, American Heritage, and Websters all have entries for the one-word version. Several sources note that the transition from multiple words (World Wide Web site) to one unhyphenated word (website) has been rapid and may have left a few people behind. So some confusion is certainly justified.

I see it done various ways in publications that I believe have reasonable standards. But I agree with Glenn -- we don't need to capitalize and the term is so common that it is now just one word.

Also, I don't see the need to capitalize the "i" in internet.

In Grant's blog survey introduction and comments, he shares his opinion that the one-word version of website is pretentious. So, take my supercilious ignorance with a block of salt.
