The kids, to me anyone under forty—from teens to media professionals, all seem to be hitting the "t" in "often" harder and harder these days to the extent that I wonder if it's even possible to turn back the tide. Same goes for "aunt" being pronounced "awnt." Is it time to throw in the towel on these two?

This sounds like a fair survey of how people say often:
(There is a nice bonus at the end on listen, hasten, fasten, soften, though fasten and soften are questionable )
