Ok, I'm old.....and this must have come from my parents, so maybe none of you "spring chickens" (another ancient expression) is using "scared the peewadlins (sp?) out of me." I'm interested to know if anyone else has heard it, and if you know anything about it. I'm guessing it comes from getting so scared you pee your pants, and maybe someone put in the rest to avoid saying something in front of a child (?)....but have no idea, really.
I always heard it as "pee waddin'" as in "pee wadding". My picture was like the wadding used for a blank cartridge--something that kept the powder in the cartridge before it was fired and then let the exploding gasses out but did not any damaging power like a bullet.
