Hi everyone, I'm a long time listener of the show but finally felt compelled to join the forum because something's been bugging me for a while now.

I'm having so much trouble remembering this word that was mentioned in one of the podcasts from two years ago. It is an infrequently used word meaning to bask in the warmth of the sun on a chilly day or something to that effect. Does anyone remember what that word was? I searched the web but didn't have any luck.

Thanks so much in advance!

Best,
Val

I doubt this is the word you're looking for, as it seems pretty obvious to me, but when my dogs to that (bask in the sun on a chilly day) we say they are "sunning" themselves. I bring that term from the Midwest, where I used to do the very same thing myself. That's why I now live in Arizona ... just couldn't put up with those Midwest winters.

I don't recall the episode. Was the word apricate?

Perhaps it was the related word apricity. While apricate simply means to bask in the sun, apricity specifically refers to the warmth of the sun in the winter.
