Sound bite pundits have long said things like:
The optic of cooperating with Iran.
The optic of the border fences .
(Usually implying potential political embarrassment.)
Today it's still limited to journalists specialized in the 100 mph commentaries art.

So I've changed the description to 'not in many dictionaries.'
The limited use part still holds?
