I've recently heard an expression I hadn't noticed before: "to occupy the wheelhouse". I have not found it on Google, but have heard it on podcasts. It seems to mean "to hold a position". The uses have not been the context of seafaring. Any thoughts?

I've certainly heard the like: "x is in the wheelhouse" or "x has the wheelhouse" in all sorts of contexts to mean that the person is in control, "calling the shots," or in a favored position. It is not limited to the original nautical meaning, in my experience.
