I’m in my property law class right now and two professors have done research on the words precedent. As far as they’ve found, the only people who pronounce precedent (with an ee sound) are lawyers. Everyone else pronounces precedent with an eh sound. What gives?

I can imagine that happens occasionally on the 1st syllable. But your setup with the title appears to indicate the last syllable is where. I can't say ever hearing that.
