Recently when some of our senior citizen friends had died I was reminded of an expression a elderly gentleman used when conftonted with losing his peers. The expression was "They are hoeing in our row". Living in an agricultural community on the California central coast I was wondering if this was regional or just the musings of a rather clever old guy. Any help?

Gerry, I've never come across it before and have not found it any of my online and offline resources. I'll keep an eye out, though.
