How many have heard something similar to, "Women are always right on top, while men get what's left over."? It is a mnemonic helping tailor keep the button on the correct side for the gender of the person for whom the clothes are being made. My mother quoted it several times.
I've seen this for the first time, but it sure is a lot easier to remember than the  spring back fall forward.
Ha! When I first moved to Arizona (which doesn't observe DST) I was looking forward to a small simplification in routines. Sure, now we don't need to reset our clocks twice a year, but the issue has become adjusting for the other places that do ... teleconferences, phone calls, working hours. DST is not really needed these days, and IMHO the whole system should be scrapped. Straight UT works just fine. </rant>
Regarding Emmettredd's original question, no I had never heard that mnemonic. I only became aware of that tailoring convention post HS. Always thought it was a curious standard. Wondered if there was some historic reason for it, so I searched and found this:
