Oli, they're different pronunciations of the same word. There is no semantic difference between them.

Not a size,color,location,temperature difference,....? I ask because as a kid my friend"s dad,a Kentucky old boy ,had asked the same question that "D'ya know the difference...".I didn't respond because of the fish on my line and never brought it up again.Might just be some hillbilly joke.Thanks.I also thought it was just semantics.Oli
