As a listener from the UK could I correct a comment made on a recent broadcast about the phrase 'to fess up'? Contrary to the commnents in the programme this is a commonly used and widely understood phrase in the UK, especially with the under 50's. I think it might have been imported from the US via television programmes. I have seen it spelt 'fess. The apostrophe indicates the missing first syllable.
