I've just started exploring this fairly new, still-in-beta word resource recommended by Charles Hodgson of the excellent Podictionary podcast, but it looks interesting so far:

Did you know that I am also the editorial director of Wordnik? Glad you like it. 🙂

So, you are the one who rejected the celebratory haiku I submitted? Please reconsider.

Wordnik.com, a celebratory haiku
Wordnik.com rocks.
Discovering all the words
With my help. Yippee!

I struggled with two things: convincing myself that people would speak the understood syllable of “dot”; the obligatory reference to nature — hence, “rocks.” Others may struggle with the total absence of poetry or art, but that is the struggle of those who cannot rise above such things.

Glenn,

If you are worried about losing the ".", you could do "Wordnik dot com rocks." That is relatively standard (but not as cutefrown) and unambiguous. Ambiguity, because the first dot is voiced, but the second should not be. "Wordnik dot com rocks dot" does not fit the haiku but could be a valid parsing.

The haiku was rejected? I don't think we're outright turning them away. Did you get some kind of message or something?

No, Grant. You are very kind to ask. When I registered months back I got an e-mail with contact info. It suggested various reasons for contact, as I recall. One of the mentioned possibilities tickled me. It was to share a celebratory haiku. So I had to send one, despite the void of wit, art, meat, or zip.

If you think this one is bad, you should read my Metahaiku. To the relief of wordnik.com, any relationship between Metahaiku and wordnik.com is nonexistent.
