Way in: How an informality has climbed into English. Another one of those things where self-appointed usage mavens made a factless ruling. "Way" is fine in anything less than hyper-formal speech.

Isn't this the double-edged sword for linguists? You have to try and keep the language understandable and standardized but if you smother it too much with restrictions, it ends up just being French.smile
