Thong Trees--A Lost Language

An ancient language in the Ozarks, if not elsewhere, were thong trees. Language might be a little strong because the message appears not to be in the trees, but only after following their pointing does one figure out message.

"Thong trees"? I was aware of the concept of bending the trees like that, but am all aflutter to learn that there's a name for it. Thanks, Emmett.
