Suppose that you are going to hold a wedding party. You may want to hold it in a place other than your home or a splendid restaurant. It's a place special for holding parties. What do you call it. A 'party hall'? A 'celebration maison'?

( I'm trying to find an equivalent for a Persian word-تالار)

The most generic phrase for that kind of place is catering hall or simply hall. That might vary regionally, but I've never heard anything else.

Catering in this context refers to the provision of party food.

The translation tool at Google suggests forum, with alternate translations of hall, chamber, saloon/salon, amphitheater and tollbooth.

"Function room" is also used.

Do you guys use any of these words for a hired place for a wedding reception?

No, wouldn't recommend any to Rafee.
Catering hall: too casual for most weddings; sounds like some cafeteria.
Forum: too abstract, and wrong – any place for debates, presentations.
Function hall: dignified enough, but stil says nothing about wedding.

Maybe there is no word for it, because no place is dedicated to weddings only.
But why need a word if a real-life location has to be announced anyway, like, 'Please join us at the Mayflower's reception hall.'

I exactly wanted to find a real-life place. And I said it's especial for "parties", not just wedding parties.

        Thank you all,

'Party hall' then. Just Glenn polls about wedding.

My wife likes "reception hall" or "banquet hall." It seems that the "hall" part is pretty universal.

If I was searching for somewhere to hold a party/reception I'd look for function rooms, or a community hall if it was something more informal. Then on invitations it would either simply be "Please join me at XYZ Hotel/conference centre/hall to celebrate....". If there were multiple function rooms at the venue the name of the room would be included.
