Where did we get "o'clock"? Do I have to think of zero pronounced as 'O'? But in that case what is that apostrophe after 'o'? Because zero, pronounced as 'O', is also written with 'o' not 'oh'.

O' clock is a contraction of of the clock or on the clock. The apostrophe indicates missing letters, just like in other contractions, such as won't or it's.

Pronunciation? It's not like for zero. It's round-mouthed like 'or' but short.
