In recent years, I've heard "honing in" used on TV, but I am almost positive the expression is "homing in." After all, I don't think there was ever any such thing as a "honing pigeon."

Isn't it simply astonishing the things one hears on TV? Where are the editors and producers? One certainly can hone one's skills, but I think a guided missile would do better to home in on its target.

And in a similar vein, what about all the people who are trying a "different tact"? Surely they must mean tack, as in the sailing term referring to changing directions.

In case anyone is listening, can we all just stop referring to Wimble-ton, or worse, Wimple-ton, when talking about the world famous tennis venue? Especially you sportscasters!
