When he wanted us to calm down and not get ahead of ourselves with enthusiasm or carelessness, my Dad used to advise us, "Don't get hipconorious, now!" Having heard it only, and only from him, and never having had the opportunity to ask him about it, I not only don't know where it came from; I don't even know if I'm spelling it right--or if it's even a word and whether there is a "right" spelling. I've googled it with every spelling variant I can imagine, to no avail. Anyone else ever heard the expression? Any thoughts on its origins?
