In reading my aunt's letters from 1918 I found a strange expression.  

She wrote: "I got a nice letter from Mrs.Noe. She makes my -------- chew gum." Her family was Bohemian and had moved to Madison, Wi from Chicago. They also spoke German. Anyone know what this expression means? Janice Collins, Milwaukee, WI jaco7070@yahoo.com
