Even a blind squirrel ...

My father was fond of using some colorful expressions. While not an educated man, he was very good at toeing the line of off-color humor without crossing it. For example, he loved to watch mouths gape and my mother turn purple as he declared that "his oldest son was born on their wedding day." In fact, my brother, not their first child, was born on their wedding date, their wedding anniversary several years after their wedding.

My father is no longer around to ask, so I can't be certain that this is another example of his calculated twist of off-color humor, but my father had his own version of the "blind pig" expression. I always took it as a conscious double entente.

He would say "Even a blind squirrel can find his nuts."
