I don't really expect a real answer for this question, but it is still something to think about. Yesterday as I was sitting in church the preacher began to talk about all of the men that lived with David. They were David's mighty men. These men would go out and fight giants and armies that had 5 times the number of men than they had. The pastor said that he would've liked to have met these "Goliaths." I almost chuckled, because the question that immediately popped into my head was, "Would it be insulting to one of David's men to call them Goliath?"
I know that he ment that they were great warriors and that they were more skilled in battle than most of the men around them, but the giant Goliath was one of David's worst and most well known enemies. I just thought it was funny. What do you think?
It is kind of funny, perhaps a bit ironic even. They may have been mighty men, but that doesn't necessarily mean that they were large, or giants even. David beat Goliath but did that make him a goliath then? So perhaps his men were small but mighty like him, or they used their brains more than their brawn to defeat armies larger than their own.
